Journaling for Weight Loss Success!

Journaling for Weight Loss Success!

Have you kept a food journal? Journaling is a very important aspect in successful weight loss and is claimed, by many, to be the pivotal point in their success. The benefits are most pronounced when beginning a nutritional eating plan. However, at various times throughout your weight loss journey, one can refocus their efforts by once again implementing the journaling process, as I am doing today.

When I started my weight loss journey, I made a simple food journal where I wrote down everything that went into my mouth. And, I do mean everything! I also made note of my general mood, i.e. happy, sad, lonely, etc. and recorded any major events.

Now, the process of journaling doesn’t have to be all consuming or take a lot of time; it just needs to be a conscious effort to accurately record your food intake and emotions. The initial commitment to record your journal should be for a minimum of 2-3 weeks as it takes that long to see the patterns emerge and gain a true picture of your relationship with food. Personally, I kept a journal for several months when I began as it afforded me the most control over my behavior.

BENEFITS OF JOURNALING

1. Promotes Conscious Eating
– This was a big thing for me. I can’t tell you how many times I would walk by a candy jar and indulge in a few pieces or grab some food from the kitchen table at work where it had been placed for all to share. No thought process even entered my mind. I didn’t stop to assess whether I was hungry or think about whether I was “dieting”; it was in my mouth and gone before any conscious thought entered my mind. Writing everything down, and being consistent about it, allowed me to STOP making poor choices and allowed me to truly engage my thought process, my choices, the consequences of those choices and then proceed.

S = Stop
T = Think
O = ChOose
P = Proceed

2. Monitors Food Intake – One of the best benefits of a food journal is the ability to monitor what you are eating, how much you are eating and when you are eating. It provides a clear picture of our interaction with food, which allows us to modify certain behaviors. You may uncover things like eating too little during the day, finding a food that triggers a binge episode or eating too many carbohydrates and not enough protein.

3. Identifies Relationships with Food – Documenting your moods and/or significant events will allow you to see a correlation between your emotions and food. The knowledge of this allows us to implement a plan of action to better prepare for future events.

In my journal, I realized that when I was sad and lonely, I not only ate in excess but my food choices were not nutritional. First, that information supplied me with the knowledge of my behavior. Second, it allowed me to devise a plan to alter the outcome. For instance, when I was sad and lonely, I would leave my home to go participate in a happy social activity with friends or visit family.

4. Mindful Eating – When you are cognizant of the food you are consuming, you are then more aware and watchful of the choices being made. Decisions are then more likely to be based on the quality and nutritional value of the item in correlation with the total daily calorie, point or carb allowance.

5. Better Food Choices – As you become more conscious of the foods you are eating, better choices can be made. For instance, you may observe that too many carbohydrates are being eaten and not enough protein. You may become keenly aware that vegetables are lacking. In my case, I learned to eat more protein when I was truly hungry and to reserve the carbohydrate-laden snacks for times when I felt relatively full.

6. Accountability – By journaling your food, you remain in total control. There are no foods off limits, only that you plan accordingly to stay within your allowed calories OR occasionally decide to exceed your calorie limits and accept the consequences of your choice. You remain accountable to you and there is just no benefit in not being truthful.

7. Outside Assistance – When reaching a plateau or occasionally sliding up the scale, a food journal provides the material needed for review by a friend, mentor or physician. A problem area can usually be identified quite quickly with a journal at hand.

Journaling does not require an arsenal of tools, but there are a few that are essential and those that are helpful.

TOOLS NEEDED FOR JOURNALING

Notebook or Journal (even plain paper can be used) and pen or pencil – This does not have to be anything formal, but represents the basic tools for journaling and is most essential.

Measuring cups – These are essential in portioning your food as we guesstimate on the high side.

Measuring spoons – Measuring smaller quantities of items can drastically affect your daily caloric intake and is essential to your success. An example would be salad dressing; at 80 calories for 2 TBSP of low-calorie dressing, pouring 2 or 3 times that amount can make the difference of whether you lose weight, remain the same or gain.

Calorie resource – This is essential to determine calories and can be found on the product packaging or by using an Internet resource such as www.calorieking.com. Points, carbohydrates or diabetic exchanges are other acceptable ways to measure your food when journaling.

Plastic baggies – These are helpful as some packages state number of portions and it is easier to portion them upon opening the package. The calorie count can be written in permanent marker on the baggies for easy reference.

Calculator – This is helpful to divide packaging calories into smaller portions than those listed on the box.

Scale – A scale is helpful to weigh ounces.

Journaling provides us with the key to unlock the treasure chest of knowledge that explains our behavior and relationship with food. This, in turn, allows us to devise a map to modify our behavior and chart our path to success!

Sunshine wishes for your Success!!! Happy Journaling!

Surviving Weight Loss Under Pressure!

Surviving Weight Loss Under Pressure!

I still remember that high voltage game, the electrifying atmosphere, the mounting pressure and the chanting of the spectators! I was out there in the middle and had only one thing in mind … the WIN and the Reward that would follow.

This was nothing new for me; I had been there many times. Still, the shear thrill of the success that would follow made the adrenaline flow through my veins!

Whether it was the hard work that led to the game or the hours of practice that brought my French horn solo to life in a band concert, the path to success was a journey that required great effort.

Now, thinking back over the years, it still makes me wonder, "What is it that drives me forward?"

"What is that most powerful force that has helped shape and reshape me through the years?

I can tell you, "It is 'PRESSURE'!"

“Pressure is a word that is misused in our vocabulary. When you start thinking of pressure, it's because you've started to think of failure.” Tommy Lasorda

I know the word "pressure" can send you scurrying for cover or send you running in the opposite direction as far as your feet can take you, right? But, actually, it is not as bad as we think!

Here is the shocking truth ...

The ever-prevalent pressure can play a crucial part in your weight loss success!!!

Surprised? Keep reading to discover why pressure can reshape the way you think and do things!

For me it has almost become a "need", an extension of my everyday life. It always seems to bring out the best in me and separates the thin line between success and failure!

I know how weight loss can seem to be a daunting task. It can suck your determination right out of you and make you feel stranded. "Immense pressure" could take over and soon you are counting a series of stress and depression that follows.

“When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.” Peter Marshall

So, if pressure has such a fierce reputation, why do I recommend it?

The key is to note the word "Immense Pressure”. I agree that immense pressure could leave a damaging scar on you, but I think pressure is such a necessity.!

The good news is, you can regulate pressure during your weight loss goals. You set "achievable goals" during your weight loss journey and the pressure game is on!
You know that you need to perform and you are under pressure to do so. Couple it with determination and soon you will be breaking records!

Here is the key that unlocks the secret. Think of pressure not as a formidable opponent but, instead, as a friendly tool!

Learn to tame pressure and it can reward you not only in your weight loss battle but also in your personal life! It is important to know and set "Reasonable goals”. If you set your goals too low, there is no game. On the other hand, if you set your goals too high, you can crack. By setting reasonable goals, you are driven to work hard to attain success and the pressure will lead you to do the rest.

Review your intensity of pressure weekly and make adjustments. Tinker with the level of intensity and know that you will be able to handle it.

Pressure is what is going to make you go forward! Each time you achieve your goals under pressure, it becomes an intoxicating reward. You will want to do it over and over again for the sheer thrill of victory!

The moment of winning is what makes me want more! It is almost like an obsession and I am drawn to the euphoria of success. That moment is so unique! In that moment, the pain and the hard work seem so very worthwhile and I am drawn to that magnetic feeling like a needle!

I am aware that there could be some external pressure that you may not have control over. However, when it comes to weight loss, it is YOUR actions that are going to set the pressure meter. How you handle it is all in your hands!

There is no gain without pain and … pressure, if handled right, can bring you all the desires of your heart!

Three Things to Survive Under Pressure:

1. Attitude may be the most important aspect of survival – Your sheer will to succeed and your determination to help yourself is crucial to your success.

2. Involvement and Voice – Be involved and committed to your goals, knowing there may be setbacks and adjust for them realistically. State your goals out loud and be accountable to yourself and others to achieve them.

3. Confirm that failure is not an option – State boldly and convincingly that quitting is NOT an option! View any obstacle that stands in your way as an opportunity to succeed!!! Seek positive solutions, adjust your plan, ask for help and keep your eye on the prize!

Always remember, a diamond forms under intense pressure. It is this force at work that determines its character and value. There is a diamond inside each of you! Let the pressure help reveal its inner beauty!

Are You A Weight Loss Bully?

Are You A Weight Loss Bully?

You need to be an absolute bully when it comes to weight loss ” These were the last words I would hear from him, the stranger who was commuting with me on my way back to work. Before I could ask him what he had meant by being a “bully”, he exited the bus and disappeared into the crowd.

There was something of an air of wisdom and confidence about this man that lingered. His statement, and the sparkle in his eyes … combined with the all-knowing look that emanated from his face … left me pondering his final words.

Yes, he had the power to make me think!

Throughout the following days, waves of thoughts crossed my mind and many questions started to flood my brain. How do you be a bully? Isn’t a bully a person who is cruel, intimidating and overbearing? Did he mean a ruffian, a tough or rowdy person? How would that apply to weight loss?

Bullies pick at other people … they are relentless, I thought. Perhaps I was beginning to grasp the meaning of what this man had meant. Could he have meant to be ruthless in conquering your goals? Did it mean to be relentless in exercise and working out … to keep up the pressure to succeed?

Perhaps he meant taking up the sword to your weight loss and waging war against your old habits. Maybe it meant I should “bully” anyone or anything that stood in my way of achieving a healthy lifestyle! Did he mean to be courageous and to reach for my dreams no matter what? The irony was not lost as I considered the word “bully” being compared to standing up for what I believed.

Finally, I resorted to the dictionary and found a few meanings that began to support some positive thoughts …

“To make (one’s way) aggressively.”

“Excellent, splendid: did a bully job of persuading the members.”

“Used to express approval: Bully for you!”

“Relentless – not to be placated or appeased or moved by entreaty; ‘grim determination’; ‘grim necessity’ – incapable of being placated”;

“Persistent, unrelenting, continual – occurring without interruption; chiefly restricted to what recurs regularly or frequently in a prolonged and closely spaced series” as in “the continual banging of the shutters”.

“Unyielding, unstoppable”

Perhaps I was on to something! Perhaps I could now relate to what this intriguing man had meant …

-Be driven in your commitment to yourself.

-Push yourself harder physically.

-Be willing to deprive yourself of high caloried foods that give you an immediate pleasure in return for the long-term joy of attaining your goal of weight loss.

-Don’t let yourself give up; kick yourself in your rear to reach your dreams.

-Coach yourself to do one more crunch, one more sit-up or to go two steps farther than you did the day before.

-Bully yourself to be physically stronger.

-Be determined, even bull-headed to succeed.

-Pick away at your resistance to change until your attitude is one of willingness.

-Stand up for yourself and don’t let anyone stand in your way of success.

-Be confident in your resolve, know that you WILL win this weight loss battle.

-Be relentless in taking the actions to bring about change.

-Change your attitude to go after what you want … and get it!

-Take back your life.

-Kick your own butt; never say never!

-Don’t let people tell you “no”.

Do you have the same determination as a “bully” when it come to your weight loss? Are you willing to be steadfast in your commitment and do what it takes to reach your goals? Are you willing to live your dreams?

Then YOU may be a Weight Loss “Bully” …

Please add your comments to the blog and let us know your thoughts …
“Bully” for YOU!!!

Weight Loss Success ~ Up Close and Personal

Weight Loss Success ~ Up Close and Personal

This week I was fortunate enough to watch a show on Oprah that was most inspirational and motivational. Twenty-four men and women were given the unique privilege and honor of showcasing their amazing weight loss success stories. Each person had experienced their own epiphany and steadfastly set their mind to changing their behavior to rise from the prison of obesity into a state of physical and emotional balance. These “everyday people”, like you and me, did so without surgical intervention and without medication. Their strength and determination is a testament to what can be done when you make up your mind and are willing to put the effort in yourself!

Their success ranged from those who used formal programs, such as Weight Watchers where you learn how to eat, to those who did this alone. However, there were common threads that existed among them.

• A defining moment that spurred them to action
Healthy eating
• Exercise
Caring for themselves and making themselves a priority
• The feeling they had been freed

My defining moment came from the caring support of a business associate that I have yet to meet. To others, my size made me invisible and I no longer believed in my value as a person or an employee. He saw the value in my work and accepted me for who I was on the inside. This kind gentleman offered me these words, which I clung to throughout my journey … “BELIEVE, even when it is not rational, and good things WILL happen”. Those words, along with his steadfast friendship and support, provided the epiphany that allowed me to free myself from the cocoon of fat I thought had sheltered me. In hindsight, it was a penitentiary!

This last week, I had the extreme privilege of watching a young woman in Florida, Ana81 on DailyStrength, as she experienced her own epiphany. She discovered that she truly liked herself and the person she had grown into. Tears of joy streamed down my face and I sat in awe as I read her words, “i am shedding my "fat" girl personality. or mabey its because for the first time in 27 years i have finally discovered that i like me. i like who i am. i surprise myself everyday. i feel strong, loved, cherished, happy, dedicated, self empowered, beautiful. that whole self consince thing is shedding layer by layer, the whole, i have to hold the world on my shoulders and i cant let anything drop is breaking away. i am finding that i like who i am and what i have grown into. the weight loss is great, but it is truely just begining to become like the frosting on the cake! its me i am proud of.”

Ana81 has now lost an amazing 70 pounds! We all experience bumps in the road and it is during those difficult times that we need to learn to reach out for additional support. For me, I found DailyStrength and met a host of wonderful friends. They provided messages of support, knowledgeable tips and much cherished virtual hugs. Bonds of friendship were formed that will last a lifetime. One young man, who provided unending support, hugs and words of motivation, has become a daily companion even though he lives half way around the world. He is my dearest friend and ardent supporter. He is also responsible for planting the seed for this blog and unselfishly does all the computer and “behind the scenes” work that brings it to life.

For Ana81, she gains support from Weight Watchers and her friends on DailyStrength. Although she faces the same trials we all face in our journeys, she has learned some valuable lessons and shares these heartfelt words. “yeah, i will admit, when i started to really get serious, i didnt even have faith in myself that i could do what i started out doing. i didnt have faith in my self disipline or my determanation. but in these last few months i have discovered just how strong i am, and not just how strong i am getting physically, but how strong mentally i am too!"

YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Reach out and grab your dream, put in the effort with newfound determination and make your dream a reality! It’s never to late to start!

Self-Motivation ~ My Strategy for Weight Loss Success; Could it be Yours???

Self-Motivation ~ My Strategy for Weight Loss Success; Could it be Yours???

When undertaking the task of losing weight and changing your lifestyle, there are undoubtedly periods of time where renewed motivation is required. For me, this involves two processes: (1) the search for those people, stories, quotes and friendships that inspire me and (2) an introspective look at myself that ultimately culminates in a deeper understanding of life and furthers personal growth.

The Search-

Feeling deeply committed to those who have joined the blog and the Weight Loss Group hosted at DailyStrength, my heart has been heavy as I watch the motivation of these wonderful, caring people decline and their posts slow to a snails pace. How can I motivate them? What are they feeling? How can I “pay it forward” to honor those who helped me and assist these people who are crying out for help? What if my motivation is waning?

Following some soul searching, I asked this question, “Name someone or something you found extremely motivational and examine what it was that made you feel that way.”

Have you seen the movie Lorenzo’s Oil? If not, may I suggest you rent it and watch it. It is the real life drama of Augusto and Michaela Odone and their unbelievable motivation, unyielding determination and unending love for their son. At five years of age, he was diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD); a horrible debilitating disease that slowly robs young boys of their ability to walk, talk, swallow and ends with taking their life, usually within 24 months of diagnosis.

In spite of their son’s impending demise, the Odones began a mission to save Lorenzo’s life. They went to various medical facilities, submitted their son to the latest medical protocols and scientific trials only to watch their son’s health decline. They decided to learn everything they could about this little studied rare disease and poured through libraries and medical literature to broaden their knowledge. They were unyielding in their desire to ask questions and understand the disease process and how various treatments affected their son’s status. When faced with opposing information, they steadfastly stood together and summoned their inner strength to not only care for Lorenzo’s failing health, but to collide with support groups, doctors, researchers, and scientists in their quest for a cure.

Through the unbridled dedication and self-motivation, the Odone’s stretched the boundaries of conventional medicine and identified the formula that now saves the lives of countless children diagnosed with ALD. While the Odone’s formula did not “cure” the disease, it holds the disease from progressing any further and these children live; what a victory for all! Their son, Lorenzo, was 14 at the time the movie was released and had long outlived the 24-month life expectancy of the doctors.

An Introspective Look-

I opened my mind to new thoughts and took a look into my life and how I might be able to use these things I so admired in Augusto and Michaela Odone to provide me with self-motivation.

Motivation What is your motivation? Mine was to learn to be kind to myself, to be healthy, to live, to set a goal and show my grandchildren you could accomplish what you set your mind to do.

DeterminationAre you determined to succeed? I was determined to not give up, to realize I was human and would fail from time to time and forgive myself quickly.

Unending LoveDo you love yourself? Do you love someone else? Learning to care for myself has been a large part of my journey and there are those in my life who I love dearly … family, friends, coworkers, and others.

MissionWhat is your mission? Mine was to succeed in becoming healthy and developing a positive self image.

Learn Do you want to learn and gain the knowledge of others? Is your mind open to new thoughts and ideas? My mind yearned for knowledge and while it wasn’t as easy to institute true change in the beginning, learning and evolving is now one of the most important and enjoyable elements of my life.

Desire Do you have a burning desire, a dream you want to turn into a reality? Initially, it was to lose weight and have my tummy fixed; now it is to develop the blog, support the weight loss group, help others succeed along their individual journeys and honor those who so selflessly helped me.

UnderstandDo you understand where you have been, where you are going and why you are where you are in this process? Understanding where I had been took time, effort and self-examination. I understood where I was going although as I began my journey, I could only see a stone or two ahead of me. The farther I progressed on my journey and the more knowledge I gained, the farther down the path I could see. I must tell you that I did, and do, remain open to stumbling, falling down and getting up. I’m never so set on a path that I cannot choose a different fork in the road if a new opportunity presents itself.

SteadfastAre you willing to be steadfast and committed to yourself? I learned that I needed to keep putting one step in front of the other and eventually I would arrive at my goal.

Inner StrengthDo you have the inner strength to grow and achieve your goals? One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that I am stronger than I thought possible; YOU ARE STRONGER THAN YOU THINK!

DedicationDo you have the dedication to continue and not give up? I did and am continuing on my journey. YOU CAN TOO!!!

Self-Motivation – Do you have it? Are you willing to get it? I have it and continue to get it. Truly hope this is your choice; would love to share in your success!!!

Victory Do you want to claim victory for yourself? I am! You Can!!!

To Weigh or not to Weigh? – The Dreaded Scale and the Unending Question!

To Weigh or not to Weigh? – The Dreaded Scale and the Unending Question!

How to weigh yourself

OK … so we might as well enjoy a little humor with this subject!

This is the most fascinating question and seems to generate an unbelievable amount of responses; each person fairly secure that their manner of facing the dreaded scale to measure their weight is the correct way.

I can’t believe I was doing it wrong all these years!

There seems to be a happy medium that needs to be sought and it is different for each person. While we need the scales to monitor our progress, the results seem to lead us through a range of emotions from depressed and ready to give up to being elated and motivated to continue our plan with vigor.

The truth may be that we need to be kinder and gentler to ourselves and realize that our true goal is to change to a healthier lifestyle and that if we are committed to that, day-by-day, we WILL achieve our goal! The scale is merely a tool to help us monitor our progress from time to time. The journal of our food intake, the calories and the exercise we commit ourselves to do is the real indicator of our success; the scale is the ultimate truth machine as to whether or not we’re doing that correctly.

So, just as the tortoise went slow and easy, was steady and determined, remember who one the race? Through the never-ending faith and persistence, the tortoise won the race and so can you!

Below are comments from various people who, just like you, face this question and try to make sense of it; each ultimately trying to develop a plan to monitor our weight that works positively for us. You may find your feelings somewhere below or you may have other feelings that have not yet been expressed. Please feel free to share them in the comment section at the bottom of the blog so others facing their own journeys can receive the benefit of your knowledge.

Should I weigh daily?

I weigh daily, each morning, as soon as I awake. I go to the bathroom and weigh without clothes so my true weight is recorded each day. In this manner, I can make adjustments in my eating choices for that day based on what the scale shows. I am aware that there can be a fluctuation of 1-2 pounds due to water weight so that never bothers me. It does give me immediate confirmation of my behavior and I hold myself accountable to make the appropriate adjustments swiftly for any weight outside of that so I remain on course.

It makes me absolutely crazy to get on the scale daily; it is an emotional roller coaster.

When a “bad” number shows up, I immediately head to the kitchen to eat; it is self-defeating.

My moods are affected greatly by the numbers on the scale; I just can’t weigh daily. I had to step away from the scales.

I couldn’t stay away from the scales so I gave them to a family member and got them out of the house and removed the daily temptation to get on them. I was drawn to the scales like a moth to a flame and it was not producing good results.

Should I weigh weekly?

I weigh in weekly on the same day each week; it provides me with additional motivation. A few days prior to my weigh in I really buckle down to see some results.

I’m in Weight Watcher’s and weigh every week.

Should I weigh once a month?

I just keep doing what I know to do and then when I get weighed in a month, I can see how much I’ve lost and take pleasure in my achievement.

I try staying off the scale and it helps me to have longer periods between my weighing sessions. I don’t let the scale rule my life.

I weigh once a month. Although I remain curious and am tempted, it has helped me stay on my plan. Previously, I used the slight change in numbers to derail myself from my plan.

Should I take a hammer to the scales and throw them away?

I threw out the scales and ignore them; I go by howI feel and how my clothes fit.

I only get weighed at the doctor’s office.

I don’t weigh.

I may take a hammer to my scales once I’ve reached my goal!

What if the scales don’t change?

Give yourself a HUGE HUG and a pat on the back; you HAVE made progress! Your weight has remained constant and you have not gained!!! That is improvement over your past behavior and leads to the advancement of your understanding, which is ultimately what is needed when making a long-term lifestyle change!

Besides, the scales should change in the following week or two. Remember the tortoise; they will! :]

What if the scales go up?

A slight shift upwards could be due to the time of day; we tend to weigh heavier as the day progresses or it could be that you are wearing a heavier outfit than you weighed in last time.

If you’re exercising, muscle weighs heavier than fat and this can account for a minimal weight gain.

Journal your food intake, absolutely everything, and see how many calories you are truly consuming. Count every bite that goes in your mouth, including tasting dinner while cooking, eating a few bites from the plates of your children or grabbing a candy or two from the office candy jar; you may be surprised.

If you’re still having trouble and they continue to go up, send me your journal and how to contact you and we will discuss.

Sunshine wishes and many heartfelt hugs … always … Ranae

Food – What to Eat – Part 2 - Snacks

Food – What to Eat – Part 2 - Snacks

This is the second article in a four-part series answering the question, “What do you eat?” and attempting to provide some guidance to those asking for assistance.

Please be sure you have read Food – What to Eat – Part 1Breakfast as information is provided that needs to be understood before proceeding to Part 2 – Snacks, Part 3 – Lunch and Part 4 – Dinner/Supper.

It is necessary to restate:

-My success was achieved with approximately 1,400 to 1,500 calories a day with moderate exercise.

-My snacks were usually kept between 100-150 calories so that total snack calories were approximately 300 daily for my three snacks

-Three snacks a day seem to be the choice of many of us who have experienced long-term success.

Here are a few things you may find helpful-

Snacks are as important as the meals we eat; sometimes even more so. Snacks keep our metabolism activated and working to burn calories. They help maintain a “full” feeling, which is beneficial when instituting a successful eating plan and aids in reducing any hunger we may begin to feel prior to our afternoon or evening meal. This additional time allows us to thoughtfully, consciously and healthily prepare our meals without grabbing an unhealthy food, stopping at a fast food restaurant or convenience store on the way home and helps us refrain from tasting many small bites of your afternoon or evening meal as you are preparing it. Remember, those calories add up as well.

Again, these are just samples; pick up packages, read the labels and make your own choices. This is how you will learn to not only broaden your food exposure to new possibilities but you are learning how to change your lifestyle!
  • Eat slowly and purposefully

*Enjoy the flavor and the experience of the food you are eating

*Chew your food thoroughly 10-20 times, not 2-3; it takes approximately 20 minutes for your brain to realize your stomach is full. In addition, the saliva aids in digestion and helps you feel full.

  • Remember, snacks are not meals; they must be limited but they are necessary and crucial to our success.

One of my favorites: Pop a 100 calorie bag of Kettle Korn, open it carefully and drop in 1-2 TBSP of grated parmesan cheese and some freshly ground black pepper. Close the bag, shake and then enjoy. I eat each kernel individually and it is a flavorful snack. I eat this when I am craving something crunchy after my final meal as my end of the day snack.

Please be sure to journal everything; it is the only true way to know the total calories you are consuming. It is also important to make an entry as to how you are feeling, i.e. happy, sad, lonely, angry ~ in time, you should be able to see a pattern between your emotions and your eating habits. This then gives us a place to start to address a plan of action to make corrections. I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!! Thank you for allowing us to share in your adventure! Now, go make it your reality!!!
