Personal Growth and Weight Loss Success!
The age old question, is it nature or nurture? Am I obese because genetically I may be predisposed to this body type or those fat cells; is my metabolism simply more efficient than someone else? Or, did the environment I was raised in determine the size of my girth? Am I more apt to be heavy because I eat southern fried foods or pasta versus lean chicken and steamed vegetables? Well, there can be many debates on this issue. Each may play a role in where we are; however, I will give you one other thing to think about.
Despite the fact that our bone structure and some of our metabolism may be genetically predisposed; and given the fact that the cuisines we grew up with may indeed have played a part in the tastes we are accustomed to … and each type of cuisine carries with it varying calories and nutritional consequences … I offer you a third alternative. READ MORE... There is a power beyond that which was dealt to you by either nature or nurture, and that is the power of your mind and your outlook. It is this one, often overlooked, quality that is most influential in our transition to a healthier lifestyle. Steadman Graham said this best, "People, who consider themselves victims of their circumstances, will always remain victims unless they develop a greater vision for their lives.”
WoW ... now there is profound truth in those words! While I smiled outwardly and half-heartedly participated in the daily routines of life, I experienced an epiphany when I realized I was the one who was in charge of my future. The key to who I was and what I wanted to be was in my mind and my beliefs!
You, too, can conquer this weight loss battle and stop allowing food to become your armor. Replace negative thoughts quickly with three positive ones. Believe that you can change your behavior and start talking to yourself in that manner; it is a self-fulfilling prophecy. No matter what hand you have been dealt, you, alone, are in control of your destiny.
Commit your mind and body in this healthy effort and never give up. Undertake wise, steady transitions, cultivate those changes and practice perseverance. Learn compassion and patience with yourself; never give up and visualize your success. In doing so you claim it and move ever forward on the path of achieving it.
“It is of practical value to learn to like yourself. Since you must spend so much time with yourself you might as well get some satisfaction out of the relationship.” —Normal Vincent Peale

We can all blame something for our weight gains but it all comes down to the fact that we ate too much of the wrong things. I for one am trying to turn it around. I could blame my hertiage but why do that.I can change me and the way I eat which I am trying to do.
