At many fine clubs, new members may be given two complimentary sessions with a trainer. These visits help members familiarize themselves with the gym and allow them to gain personal knowledge of the benefits a personal trainer can offer.

The first visit usually entails garnering information regarding the health of the individual, which is recorded on a PAR-Q. That is an acronym for Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire and covers matters including medications, joint injuries, blood pressure problems and physician clearance. As a trainer we have access to such instruments as blood pressure cuffs, body fat percentage gauges and sometimes we institute a step routine to determine how well the heart recovers after a cardio workout. If a member has a blood pressure above normal, they must get clearance from their doctor in order to proceed with training. READ MORE...
