Here are some ideas to help you through Halloween.
- Don’t buy candy until the last minute; it’s too tempting to be sitting around.
- Buy treats that you don’t like; it’s easier to say “no” that way.
- If possible, avoid candy altogether and hand out stickers, balls, necklaces or other little party favors. Your local dollar store should have quite an array.
- Purchase snack size canned fruit or single serving packages of pretzels or popcorn; any leftovers can be incorporated safely into your eating plan.
- Eat before you take your post at the door or, better yet, let another member of the family pass out the candy.
- Give away or throw away any remaining candy. It is a positive and knowledgeable choice to remove the temptation.
- Resist the temptation to buy any candy after Halloween, no matter how much they mark it down or what a bargain you think it is. It is no bargain when it costs you your health.
Open your mind to the amazing possibilities of healthy recipes and alternative snacks; you can select better and more nutritional options. You have ultimate power over your future; the choice is yours.
Think of why you are doing this and keep your list handy so you can refer to it when you are tempted. Celebrate the New Year in style!

I liked all the hints on how not to eat the halloween candy. I usually got candy I liked but I know now to get what I don't like and it works.
Thanks Kathy. Found pencils and other non-food items on sale, great bargains, and bought a few to hand out next year along with some healthy snacks. Best wishes and thanks for stopping by.
