We're honored you're here and we'll walk hand in hand with you. Register your email, receive notifications of new posts and join us as we all work in partnership to realize our dreams! The stepping stones for your consideration and your success are listed below. Start with little steps, learn from your falls, but never, ever given up on your dreams!
Attitude is, most likely, the single most important aspect to your successful weight loss. A "can do" attitude allows you to believe in yourself and the feat ahead of you. In this mind set, you constantly look for ways to succeed and look at any failures as stepping stones to success! Realizing your dreams and doing whatever it takes to get there remains forefront in your thoughts.
Challenging yourself to be the best you can be pushes complacency out the door and makes room for personal growth. Each challenge tests our endurance and strengthens us emotionally and physically. I learned I can survive the emotions I was afraid of feeling and my spirit is stronger than I ever thought possible.
Health should be our number one concern for losing weight. Despite the warnings from our doctors of impending health concerns like hypertension, diabetes Type II, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, hip and knee replacements, sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease and premature death, we tend to believe these concerns can be dismissed until tomorrow.
I'm not sure how thick the blinders were that I was wearing for 30 years, but the days turned into weeks, weeks into years and tomorrow did come with hypertension, high triglycerides, painful needs and sleep apnea. If we do not address this, our health suffers, our financial burdens sky-rockets and we rob ourselves of precious moments with our friends and loved ones because we are physically limited from participating in some of life's most adventurous and memorable activities.
Invest time and energy in yourself. You are worth it!!! It is not only the greatest gift you can give yourself, it is the greatest gift you can give to those you care about. By investing time and energy in yourself, you are making sure you will be around to continue caring for your loved ones.
In my interactions with some of you, I have watched as you readily come to the aid of a friend or a complete stranger and encourage them to forgive themselves and be kind to themselves. Then I've watched as you apply a different set of standards for yourself. Dig deep down inside and know that you are worth the time and the effort and be kind to you!
Energize yourself with exercise. Let it bring sunshine and vitality to your day! There are so many options that we never have to be bored. There is walking, swimming, biking, hiking, strength training, aerobics, treadmill, elliptical, volleyball, basketball, bowling, belly dancing, baseball, ballroom dancing, tae-kwon-do ... the possibilities are endless!!! Besides, I dare you to tell me you didn't feel better afterwards when you're sweating, the endorphins are filling your brain and you are proud of your effort!
Value you! There is no one else in the world has your sense of humor, your though process, your hair, your eyes, your outlook on life. You are unique, one-of-a-kind, and this makes you so very special! You are rarer than a diamond, which makes you most treasured!
Examine your thought processes and your outlook on life. Do you view things in a positive or negative manner? When I allowed myself to examine the manner in which I approached various situations, I learned that steps were needed to move me to a more positive place. Surround yourself with positive affirmations, positive people and positive support. Positive will attract positive. Try taking any negative thought and replacing it with three positive ones and soon you will learn to think in a positive manner. This made a profound change in my life! Even as I sit here unemployed and questioning whether I will be able to keep my home, there is much to be thankful for. I am healthy, happy, loved, warm and fed; I am blessed.
YOUR - This means of/or relating to you, your possessions, your body, your actions, your dreams! This all belong to you and is under your control!
Determination is the fortitude to never give up! You may stumble from time to time but you fail if you quit trying. Others are here to support you and help you up from a fall, but the determination to continue rests with you.
Realize your dreams. Do not allow anyone or anything to take them away. It is our dream no one has a right to prevent us from reaching it, least of all us.
Eliminate the language that allows for excuse
- Not if, but when,
- Not try, but will
- Not hope,but belief
then it will not be a dream, it will be a reality.....live into it!
Analyze your behavior and the emotions behind them. Keep a food journal and record your feelings and watch for a correlation between the times you binge and a particular emotion. This knowledge alone allows us to create a plan of action for the next time and lights our way to change. In seeing these emerging patterns, we are able to able to replace our subconscious eating with mindful eating and this leads to our success.
Motivation can ebb and tide throughout our journey but there, too, we have choices! By joining an Internet support community, we broaden our circle of friends who are quite willing to help in the peaks and the valleys. Their kindness, unending love, virtual hugs and words of wisdom are crucial in staying engaged.
Success can be yours, you just have to believe it, reach for it and be willing to make the changes necessary to achieve it. We Believe in you ... do you?
